Description

Bauform Vf1b

Bauform Vf1b belongs to the Bauformen program, constructed in the strength category Verstärkt Feldmässig (Vf). This class of bunkers represents reinforced field constructions — stronger than simple field shelters but lighter than the heavily fortified Regelbauten types.

Originally designed for the Army (Heer), this model belongs to the application group Ammunition Bunkers (Unterstände für Munition).

Although many bunker types — such as crew shelters or fire-control posts — include space where soldiers could live during service, the layout differs between categories. Ammunition bunkers typically do not include crew quarters, as their primary purpose is safe storage. However, this specific model (Vf1b) does contain accommodation for up to 6 men, allowing the crew to both store ammunition and remain inside while on duty.

Construction

As with other Regelbauten and Bauformen designs, the Vf1b was built using concrete, with or without steel reinforcement depending on availability and construction demands.

For a standard Vf1b bunker (without additional extensions or special adaptations), construction required:

  • Concrete: 125 m³

Weapon Origin Codes

In some bunker diagrams, a letter may appear in parentheses after a weapon designation — for example (f). This indicates the original country of manufacture for the weapon model.
