This bunker is part of the extensive Atlantic Wall fortifications built by Nazi Germany along the Danish North Sea coast during World War II. Constructed between 1940 and 1945 following the German occupation of Denmark, it served as part of the defensive network designed to prevent Allied invasion. The structure's distinctive shape has been compared to a giant turtle lying on the beach, characteristic of many concrete bunkers built during this period.
Located near Thyborøn on Denmark's western coast, this bunker represents one of approximately 6,000 surviving structures out of the 7,000 originally constructed along Denmark's coastline during the occupation.
