Minefield - MK. I RE. One of a series of minefields along the low lying cliffs between Saltburn to South Gare. This minefield extended along Coatham Sands for 2000yds. The mines laid were Type No. I RE. There is evidence to suggest that this field formed part of a petroleum oil filled trench. (Information from John M. Harwood).
