Description

This research is automated and may contain errors.

02/11/1999 Six-sided pillbox (probably type 22) , brick-shuttered, with an inner Y-shaped blast wall. The walls are 13ins thick and there is soil and grass on the roof (remains of camouflage?). It is fitted with Turnbull machine gun mountings at the embrasures. It is not possible to gain access to the interior of the pillbox as it is heavily overgrown with shrubs etc and is located in a hedge.

Part of the defences of Predannack Airfield. 17/07/2001 Small type 22 pillbox, with unprotected entrance. It faces NW. Brick-cladding and cast concrete embrasures. There are the broken remains of an embrasure at the top of the doorway. Internal blast wall. Grassed-over roof. The nearby windmill tower may have been used as an observation post.

The area is being turned into a nature reserve.
