01/1998 This Auxiliary Unit dugout has now been completely destroyed. , but the site has been established by contact with relatives of one of the members of the Philleigh Unit. It was sited underground in a copse in the centre of farmland. The officer in charge of the Philleigh Unit was Capt.

Abbiss, decorated in WW1. In WW2 he worked as the Cornwall County Council Horticultural Officer, and he used this role as a cover to organise all Resistance Units of the Home Guard in Cornwall. It is believed that there were 24 such units in the county. Mr. Eva, farmer at Trenestrall Farm, was also a member of the Unit.
