Description

This research is automated and may contain errors.

This underground bunker is a former Royal Observer Corps monitoring post, part of the UK's Cold War-era civil defense network. These posts were established across Britain to monitor and report nuclear explosions and radioactive fallout in the event of a nuclear attack. Located in rural Norfolk, this bunker would have been operated by volunteer observers trained to detect and record nuclear detonations and measure radiation levels.

The Royal Observer Corps maintained a network of approximately 1,500 such posts throughout the United Kingdom during the Cold War period, forming a crucial early warning system for the British government and civil defense authorities.
