Vestvolden (the Western Rampart) is part of Copenhagen's Ring Fortification (1886-1894), a major land-defense line west of the city. This structure is a double rifle caponier (dobbelt gevaerkaponiere), designed to cover the ditch and approaches with protected flanking fire as part of the Vestvolden defense network.
