17/01/1999 Surviving remains of High Ash Camp where the 7th Armoured Division was based in 1944 prior to the D-Day landings. The site is commemorated today by a memorial, and the area is now a Forestry Commission plantation. A trail is laid out pointing the way to the surviving foundations of some camp buildings, e. g. the cook house.
Large areas of concrete survive, presumably the hardstandings for the armoured vehicles. A caravan park also makes use of some of the concrete expanses. (There is no paper version of this record).
