1996 HG observation post. A two tiered grandstand with hotel incorporated on S side. The grandstand had an observation building on top (possibly for race stewards originally). Several reference s to the use of the grandstand as an observation post are in HG files held by the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association at Norton Barracks.

These are as follows: a) A schedule, dated June 1940, of OPs - lists No. 2976, Pitchcroft Grandstand at map ref 292765 (Cassini grid). b) Undated Standing Orders for LDV at Post Number 2976, Pitchcroft (292765) refers to a minimum of 20 men to be posted each night. The three positions to be manned were: (A) - Top of the grandstand, (B) - South Trench and Gates, (C) - Railway Bridge Post.

Patrols were detailed and in the case of plane landings, the riflemen were to occupy Post C in full strength. c) In a schedule of Home Guard Observation Posts dated Summer 1941, the grandstand at Pitchcroft (292762) is listed.
