Bunker Kaliadem is a poignant historical site located near Yogyakarta, Indonesia, serving as a tragic reminder of the 2006 eruption of Mount Merapi. This reinforced concrete structure was intended as a refuge for those fleeing the devastating pyroclastic flows, locally known as "wedhus gembel." Tragically, two volunteers seeking shelter inside the bunker lost their lives when the eruption's intensity overwhelmed the structure. Today, Bunker Kaliadem stands as a somber memorial to the victims and a testament to the unpredictable power of nature in this volcanically active region.
