Description

A Cold War-era military bunker located near the Skagerrak Straits in Norway, Movik Fort was originally constructed during World War II by German forces. Situated on a strategic hilltop, the structure served as a coastal battery with a massive Krupp 380mm cannon, one of the largest ever built, capable of firing up to 55 kilometers. The fort was part of Germany's Atlantic Wall defenses in occupied Norway, though its primary role shifted during the Cold War as NATO focused on countering Soviet influence.

Recent tensions with Russia have reignited interest in the site, though it is now closed and unverified for public access. The structure remains a military heritage site reflecting Norway's complex wartime history and Cold War preparedness.
