The Fort Canning Bunker, also known as the Battlebox, is a World War II-era underground command center located beneath Fort Canning Hill in Singapore. Built in the late 1930s, this reinforced concrete bunker served as the headquarters for the British Malaya Command during the Malayan Campaign and the Battle of Singapore in 1942. The facility was designed to be bomb-proof and provided a secure location for military operations during the Japanese invasion of Singapore.
The Battlebox played a significant role in Singapore's wartime history, as it was from here that the decision to surrender Singapore to Japanese forces was made on February 15, 1942.
