The Līgatne Soviet Bunker, located near the town of Līgatne in Latvia, is a once-top secret underground facility constructed 9 meters beneath the ground during the Soviet era. Built to serve as a shelter for Latvia's Communist elite in the event of a hypothetical nuclear war, the bunker remained shrouded in secrecy for decades. Employees and clients of the adjacent rehabilitation center were unaware of its existence for 30 years.
Today, the bunker has been preserved as a museum, displaying authentic exhibits from Soviet times that offer visitors a glimpse into the Cold War period and the Soviet military infrastructure in Latvia.
