07/1992 Pillbox. (233). 1996 Pillbox on the North Promenade, which was built on top of an old wooden groyne and was complete with a basement (ammunition store?). The N doorway was blocked up during construction and adapted as a further embrasure. The other doorway was used as the entrance and fitted with a steel door (possibly post-war).
There is a local legend of a tunnel leading from the pillbox to the Marine Hotel on the Promenade. DESTROYED as part of the refurbishment of the sea wall in June 1995.
