The Bunker Complex Ungerberg is a Cold War-era military fortification located in Austria, built as part of the country's secret defensive network during the period of East-West tensions. This concrete bunker features walls two and a half metres thick, designed to withstand prolonged attacks and provide secure shelter for military personnel. Inside, the complex includes a telephone exchange for communications, a medical room for treating the wounded, and even a niche for coffins, reflecting its role as a self-contained defensive position.
A decommissioned howitzer remains on site, still maintained in working order as a historical exhibit. The complex is now part of Austria's military heritage and offers insight into the country's Cold War defensive strategy.
