02/2001 Row of concrete cubes (1. 5m dimensions) set 1. 0m apart side by side. The single line of these blocks extended the full length of Climping Beach to the River Arun at Littlehampton Harbour: much of the range is now buried under the sand dunes. There is also apparently ( information from Dr.

Friel of Littlehampton Museum) a pillbox buried in the dunes on the W side of the harbour entrance. (A painting by John Piper entitled Clymping Beach shows the anti-tank blocks). 29/07/1999 Long row of cubes, side to side. Where ground is lower and more vulnerable to invasion, there is a continuous wall reinforced from the back by 4ft cubes spaced about 8ft apart from each other.

It appears from the way the wall has weathered that it is the same age as the cubes and not a post-war sea defence wall.
