Description

Movik Fort is a historic German coastal artillery fortification located in a commanding position above the Skagerrak Strait near Stavanger, Norway. Constructed during the Second World War by German forces, the fort was designed to control the vital sea lane between Norway and Denmark. It is historically notable for having mounted the second-largest cannon in the world at the time, a massive 380 mm Krupp gun with a range of up to 55 kilometers. Following the war, parts of the complex, including a command bunker, saw secondary use, and the site is now part of Norway's broader military heritage landscape, with Cold War-era bunkers across the country undergoing restoration due to renewed strategic interest in the region.
