The Wa Ko Fest 8.8cm Flakstand is a World War II German anti-aircraft artillery position located in northern France. This defensive installation was part of the Atlantic Wall fortifications built by Nazi Germany to protect occupied territories from Allied air attacks. The 8.8cm Flak (Flugabwehrkanone) was one of the most effective and feared anti-aircraft weapons of the war, capable of engaging both aerial and ground targets with devastating accuracy.
The bunker complex would have housed the famous 8.8cm Flak 18 or 36 gun, mounted on its characteristic cruciform carriage. These weapons were typically operated by crews of seven to nine men and could fire up to 15-20 rounds per minute to altitudes exceeding 7,000 meters. The strategic location near the French coast made it ideal for defending against Allied bombing raids targeting German military installations and industrial facilities in occupied France.
