The Blockhaus d'Éperlecques, located near Saint-Omer in northern France, is a massive Second World War bunker complex that was part of Nazi Germany's V-2 rocket program. Built by forced labor between 1943 and 1944, this concrete structure was intended to serve as a launch facility for V-2 rockets targeting London and other Allied cities. The bunker, also known as the Watten bunker, represents one of the most ambitious military construction projects on the French coast during the war.
The facility was heavily damaged by Allied bombing before it could be completed and was never used for its intended purpose. Today, the Blockhaus d'Éperlecques has been preserved as a museum and historical site, offering visitors insight into the technological and human aspects of the V-2 program. The site includes exhibitions on the history of the bunker, the forced labor used in its construction, and the broader context of the German occupation of France during World War II.
