Beijing Underground City

A Cold War era bomb shelter located beneath Beijing, China, constructed for military defense. The complex, also known as the Underground Great Wall, consists of a network of tunnels and was built to serve as a shelter in the event of a nuclear attack. The site is situated beneath the city, near the Xidamochang Jie entrance. Beijing's Underground City is a notable example of the country's extensive network of military infrastructure during the Cold War era.
