The SL-60L Nike missile site was part of the United States Army's Cold War air defense system, designed to protect major urban areas from potential Soviet bomber attacks. Located in the United States, this site was one of many Nike missile installations that formed a defensive ring around key cities during the 1950s and 1960s. These sites typically consisted of two separate areas: the Integrated Fire Control (IFC) area for radar and command functions, and the Launcher Area where the missiles were stored and deployed.
