Project Greek Island, also known as the Greenbrier Bunker, was a secret United States government continuity facility located beneath the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Constructed in the late 1950s and operational until 1992, this underground bunker was designed to house and protect the United States Congress in the event of a nuclear attack. The facility remained classified for over three decades, with even local residents unaware of its existence until its exposure by The Washington Post in 1992.
