Movik Fort is a historic German-built coastal fortification located in Norway, constructed during World War II. The fort occupies a strategic position overlooking the Skagerrak Straits between Norway and Denmark. It once housed the second largest cannon in the world - a massive Krupp 380mm artillery piece with a range of up to 55 kilometers (35 miles) and weighing 337 tonnes.
The fortification represents Norway's complex military heritage from both the WWII and Cold War periods, with the country's proximity to the USSR during the Cold War leading to the construction of many additional military bunkers that have recently been restored and brought back into focus due to renewed tensions with Russia.
