Description

The Watten Bunker, also known as Le Blockhaus de Watten, is a large fortified structure located near the town of Watten in northeastern France. Constructed during the German occupation of France in the Second World War, it was part of the Nazi V-2 rocket program and served as a launch facility and storage depot for the world's first long-range guided ballistic missiles.

After the war, the bunker was repurposed and now houses the Second World War Museum in Calais, which is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of the site and its role in the conflict. The massive concrete construction, designed to withstand heavy bombardment, stands as a significant testament to the military engineering projects undertaken by Nazi Germany in occupied Western Europe.
