Movik Fort is a historic German coastal fortification located near the Skagerrak Straits in Norway. Originally constructed during World War II by the German military, the fort once housed the second largest cannon in the world - a massive Krupp 380mm artillery piece with a range of up to 55 kilometers and weighing 337 tonnes. The fortification sits in a commanding position overlooking the strategic waterway between Norway and Denmark.
During the Cold War, Norway's proximity to the USSR led to the development of many military bunkers in the region, with some serving as vast secret bases. The site represents an important example of German military engineering in occupied Norway and reflects the country's strategic importance during both World War II and the Cold War period.
