1940 Roadblock S. RD 51. E Brigade Sector. (The 1940 map shows the position of the roadblock as at the railway bridge to the W of Axe Bridge itself. The field evidence indicates there was certainly a block at Axe Bridge: perhaps there was more than one block at this Location, with the Axe Bridge block being added later - further documentary evidence gives the roadblock name as Axe Farm, indicating that a site to the W of Axe Bridge is correct).

04/01/1941 Roadblock. Serial no. S. Rd. 51. First priority. 12 x tetrahedra. 12 x mines. Cassini ref. 756230. 08/1996 2 blocks either side of the road immediately to the W of the curved wall ends of Axe Bridge. The blocks have slits to take the road block materials (the N block slit is open 2 9 long and 9 wide; the S block covered 2 2 long and 9 wide).

Each block is 5 9 x 5 4 x 6 (height). They are capped with cement rendering. 14/01/2003 Two massive 5ft cubes, one each side of the road. Each has a slot to take a horizontal rail. Horizontal shuttered concrete.
