Minefield - MKBTC. One of a series of minefields along the low lying cliffs between Saltburn to South Gare. Surrounded by Dannert wire. Records indicate that it contained 2 B type C mines. This minefield is typical of the belt of minefields that formed the third line of physical barriers created to obstruct the coast from a seaborne landing.
The first line, on this particular frontage, was an anti-tank beach scaffolding and the second an oil filled trench with No. 1 RE mines for ignition purposes. (Information from John M. Harwood).
