The Līgatne Soviet Bunker, located near the town of Līgatne in Latvia, is a former top-secret underground facility constructed during the Cold War era. Built 9 meters beneath the ground, this bunker was designed to serve as a secure shelter for Latvia's Communist Party elite in the event of a nuclear conflict. The facility remained highly classified for decades, with even employees at the adjacent rehabilitation center unaware of its existence for over 30 years.
Today, the bunker has been preserved as a museum, offering visitors an authentic glimpse into Soviet-era military preparedness and the atmosphere of the Cold War period.
