Vestvolden (the Western Rampart) is part of Copenhagen's late-19th-century Ring Fortification (1886-1894), built as the city's main western land defense. The system used earth ramparts, ditches, batteries, and strongpoints, and was later supported by newer coastal defenses around 1909-1916. This site marks one of Vestvolden's defensive points in the wider Fortifications of Copenhagen.
