The Ungerberg Bunker Complex is a former military fortification located near the Austrian border with Slovakia. Built during the Cold War era, this extensive underground facility was designed to withstand prolonged attacks with its reinforced concrete structure measuring two and a half metres thick. The complex served as a strategic military installation featuring a telephone exchange, medical room, and even a niche for coffins, demonstrating its intended use as a self-contained defensive position.
The howitzer, though decommissioned, remains in working order thanks to careful maintenance, providing visitors with a glimpse into Cold War military technology.
