Movik Fort is a historic German coastal fortification located in Norway, overlooking the Skagerrak Straits between Norway and Denmark. Built during World War II by the occupying German forces, the fort once housed the second largest cannon in the world - a massive Krupp 380mm artillery piece with a range of up to 55 kilometers and weighing 337 tonnes. The fort's strategic position made it a key defensive installation during the war, controlling access to important maritime routes. Today, this impressive military heritage site stands as a testament to Norway's complex wartime history and the extensive fortification efforts undertaken by the German Kriegsmarine during their occupation of Norway from 1940 to 1945.
