12/1996 Pillbox possible type 22. Recorder Mike Osborne says pillbox is local design. Walls about 12in thick at piers but possibly half that at embrasures. Embrasures have concrete lintels and sills. It is believed that earth would have been piled up against the walls to at least the height of the bottom of the lintels. The embrasures cut almost the entire length of the walls. One side seems to have been destroyed and this would have included the entrance.
