A Splitterschutzbox, or splinter protection box, is a small concrete defensive structure designed to provide cover against shell fragments and small arms fire. Located in France, this particular example has been destroyed, as indicated by the '(zerst.)' designation. These structures were commonly used during World War II as part of larger defensive networks, particularly along the Atlantic Wall and other fortified positions.
The remains of this bunker reflect the extensive military fortifications that once defended the French coastline.
