12/10/1998 An interesting anti-tank roadblock consisting of 3 upright concrete rectangular blocks. Each block measures 5. 5ft in height x 37ins x 36ins. 3 x 9ins square holes have been made through each block at regular spacing. It is assumed that iron bars would have been fitted into the holes when the three blocks were spaced across the road.
No iron bars exist today, but the blocks are in mint condition. When the original road was widened several years ago there was considerable discussion regarding these blocks as some people wanted them removed completely while others wanted them preserved. They have now been placed on the side of the new road and will probably remain there for many years to come.
