Bunkerinfo

The Neue Südlinie, which formed the border of the Verteidigungsbereich Den Helder, ran from the North Sea beach at Julianadorp to the North Holland Canal. This defense line consisted largely of a zigzagging anti-tank ditch with a length of approximately 5 km. The line was divided into a number of positions, which in turn were fully expanded with a number of bomb-proof and thin-walled bunkers. Scattered along the line were 5 artillery bunkers of the type 680. Of the 5 bunkers, 2 remain today, 1 of which was sunk in the 1980s by spraying the sand out from under it. This bunker is still present, but deep underground on the grounds of a campsite. The second 608 is located entirely above ground on the corner of Schoolweg and Rijksweg. Next to the bunker there is also a small part of the anti-tank ditch.
