The Amiriyah Air Raid Shelter, also known as Public Shelter No. 25, was a civilian air raid shelter located in the Amiriyah neighborhood of Baghdad, Iraq. Built during the Iran-Iraq War, this reinforced concrete structure was designed to protect Baghdad's residents from aerial bombardment.
On February 13, 1991, during the Gulf War, the shelter was struck by two GBU-27 Paveway III laser-guided bombs dropped by the U.S. Air Force, resulting in the deaths of at least 408 civilians. The bombing has been characterized by Human Rights Watch as a war crime, and the site remains a memorial to the victims of the attack.
