27/08/1999 This flame barrage was installed at the Grebe Beach area of the Helford River. Petrol storage tanks were set into the ground in woodland to one side of the Durgan village approach road and pipes would have led out underwater across the Helford River entrance as part of the flame barrage. Three holes, measuring approx. 8ft x 8ft x 3ft. (deep) can still be seen today in the undergrowth where the tanks were sited.
