Trench

09/04/2000 Trenches were dug here by the Home Guard during WW2, presumably to provide a firing position covering the road junction. In the event, they were used for grenade practice, apparently utilising full tins of beans as dummy grenades. There is no real sign of the trenches now. Information from local resident.
