22/05/1992 A cantilever-type pillbox. A completely circular pit 4ft 6ins deep x 16ft diameter, lined in brick and concrete, has a central pillar some 6ft high. On top of this is mounted a massive concrete dish (an upside down saucer) , equally 16ft diameter. This leaves a 9ins gap at shoulder height round the entire circumference giving a 360 degree fire capability.
