Description

This research is automated and may contain errors.

1999 A hollow way, of ancient origin (a Saxon boundary) that was strengthened as an anti-tank ditch as part of the Outer London defences, with 3 x Home Guard strongpoints on its length. A sizeable section of the ditch was in-filled in the 1970s because of the need to get heavy equipment into the area to deal with trees affected by Dutch Elm disease.
