Description

29/01/2001 This anti-tank wall was built across the small beach which is situated to the S of Gillan Harbour, just S of the main entrance to the Helford River estuary. The wall is currently divided into three sections with a two foot gap between the sections. It is made of concrete blocks with a smooth concrete finish on top of the wall.

Each section is four feet wide and averages about six feet in height. Two sections are still in their original upright positions, and the third is on its side, knocked over by heavy seas. The sections measure approximately 27ft, 40ft, and 56ft in length, E to W. There is a gap of 56 feet to the E of the wall, and this is probably where a section has been removed at the end of the war to allow access to the beach.

The remaining sections of the wall are now in use as sea defences.
