Description

This research is automated and may contain errors.

17/03/1999 This gun was one of a pair of coastal guns built to defend Fistral Beach Newquay. A contemporary photograph (attached) shows the two gun battery, but nothing is known of the calibre of the guns or who manned them. A second smaller gun position was located directly behind this battery, to the N and on the other side of the slope of the Towan Head, to protect the beaches of Newquay to the N of Fistral Beach.

Presumably searchlights and an engine house would have formed part of this battery, but these Locations have not yet been traced.
