17/03/1999 Trenance railway viaduct, situated just S of Newquay Station, was defended in the early stages of the war by two machine gun posts, one at either end. Manned by local Home Guard. Attached to record are photographs of the Home Guard members at these two machine gun posts. Both posts were sandbagged for protection.
