Coast artillery battery built 1940 by 324 Bt RA. Inspected late 1940 and found to be in good condition - clean and tidy. Closed in 1944. Housed two 6in ex-naval guns from HMS Africa. Cromer Coast artillery battery. Most of the site has been removed. There is a raised hump in the garden of Clifenooke which is possibly the remains of the war shelter and magazines joining the two gun houses which were built on the cliff path.
The 4 search lights were below on the lower prom. There is a large building covered in creepers in the garden of the bungalow in The Warren - possibly the generator house for coast artillery search lights. See UORN 5673.
