24/04/2000 A roadblock was established on this bridge in 1940 by the local Home Guard. The block consisted of a large section of ships steel plate to be slotted between the bridge abutments. The steel plate was later witnessed being used as a spigot mortar target on Berrow Hill, 5 miles to the N. Oral evidence form local Home Guard member.
