1998 A roadblock was set up in 1940 on the Tolladine road near the Virgin Tavern as part of the outer defences of Worcester anti-tank island. Responsibility for defending this block was with the South Unit, 4th Worcestershire (Worcester) Battalion HG. The block was probably a vertical rail type, supplemented with anti-tank cylinders.
