20/06/1996 WW2 tank road block consisting of approximately 16 square concrete-lined sockets in 4 parallel rows at entrance to pier, set in road surface. These sockets, now concreted over, would have originally been fitted with removable concrete plugs which, in the event of invasion, would have been substituted with iron girders to impede progress of enemy tanks and vehicles. Some of the socket positions appear to have been fitted with fixed steel girders (at side of road) - these were concreted in position (remains of these fixed girders can still be seen at ground level).
