20/06/1996 WW2 tank road block consisting of approximately 12 square sockets in surface of pier. These sockets are now concreted over, but in wartime would have been fitted with concrete plugs which, in the event of invasion, would have been removed and steel girders or similar slotted vertically into the holes to impede progress of tanks or other vehicles.
