Movik Fort is a historic German coastal fortification located near the Skagerrak Straits in Norway. Originally constructed during World War II by the German military, the fort once housed the second largest cannon in the world - a massive Krupp 380mm artillery piece with a range of up to 55 kilometers and weighing 337 tonnes. The fortification sits in a commanding position overlooking the strategic waterway between Norway and Denmark.
During the Cold War era, Norway's proximity to the Soviet Union led to the development of numerous military bunkers and defensive structures throughout the country, though Movik Fort predates this period as a WWII-era installation.
