Description

14/03/2000 Type 22 pillbox. Marks of wooden shuttering clearly visible. Piece of metal fencing on roof and one side. Bent over metal bars on roof (may once have supported camouflage netting?). Y-shaped blast wall inside. Holes for door hinges on either side of entrance. Faces W.

1972 Hexagonal structure plotted from OS 1: 2500 sheet. 13/06/2002 Type 22 concrete-faced pillbox. Good example. Metal bars protrude from roof: metal pipe also runs down wall (purpose unknown). One embrasure blocked. Access possible, exterior and interior. Faces W. GPS gives TQ 9037494648.

08/2003 Type 22 pillbox originally on boundary of the RAF Canewdon radar station Receiver Site. The entrance may originally have had a steel door as holes in the concrete indicate this.
